Hampton Court Home Park

I’ve returned back to Home Park at Hampton Court to go on my annual ‘safari‘. Last year I got an amazing picture of a female kestrel who was perched on the ground, the most tame wild bird of prey I’ve ever met. This year I went back to see if I could find her again and if she would be willing to let me get some portraits again (with a better lens).

Whilst I did spot her, I didn’t manage to get a good shot of her as she was being harassed by some jackdaws.

I did however managed to get some good shots of some juvenile coots in the nest with both parents feeding them tasty insects. The juveniles are very striking compared to the fairly monochrome colourings of the parents. They are vibrant red / yellow / amber colours which make for good pictures.

It was also great to see the new fallow deer fawns.
